Drowning

After a very unexpected four day "break" from work (family medical crisis, not yet resolved and very scary), I am drowning in a) papers, b) motions to file and c) laundry. In that order.

Who's Who of GAL Universe

Me - GAL - attorney for the abused, neglected, and delinquent. Just shy of forty-five. A thwarted by injury runner. I like British TV. I dislike ice cream.

Chicago Girl - Daughter, ag 22. Smart. Witty. Adult in ways that I am not. Nursing school attending, on a mission to help Central Americans sweetheart who now has a long term live in boyfriend and my grand dog.

SarcasticBeauty - Daughter, 21. Loves Beer Bar Boy, Cameras, and Chocolate. Not in that order. Laughs often, and makes others laugh often. Eschewed college to make her mark in photography, and is doing a great job of it. Has a live in boyfriend and my second grand dog (who is a sister to my puppy!).

Stronger Than Me Survivor - Daughter, 17 (or 32?). Plays violin and teaches gymnastics. Suffered a tremendous loss when her first real boyfriend was murdered. Death penalty opposed, she is a feminist and a Bernie supporter. Keeps her room very neat. Going to my alma mater next fall, with a strong desire to be a teacher. Boyfriend is awesome guy who may go to college with her.

Fashionista Rebel - Daughter, 16. Has own sense of style, mostly layering things over very short bottoms and wearing heels prematurely. Loves to help others, even when it is not wise. Was Lovey Dovey, but is now Spiky Tiky with me, as the teen girl years seem to drag onnnnnnnnnn and onnnnn.

RunningMan - Older than dirt, or at least, older than me. Witty. Makes me laugh. Comes with daughters of his own, two, so that we formed an all estrogen Brady Bunch until the arrival of a male child - suprise! Match.com is to blame.

SurpriseIt'sABoy - age 4, and as his name implies, a complete surprise in my second year in practice. Cross Elsa and Batman and there he is, running and jumping from tall things in a tutu. Glue for all the kids and smart as a whip, he's been reading since age three and talking in long, involved stories since age one.

CollegeGirl - SteppishDaughter, age 20. Currently hates her dad and therefore me also. Very spoiled. Good with kids, and likes them generally. Never far from her phone.

Dog - is a dog. He's newish, nine months old. My parents supplied him and we love him, after sadly losing our lady of th house dog two years ago.

HippieMama - SteppishDaughter, age 26, not in the home. She has two kids, and is a great mama. She's model gorgeous and so is her hubby, RestaurantExpertMan. She makes hula hoops for fun. She has given us our first two grand babies.
